BAILE FELIX
The famous spa town of Baile Felix, open all year round, lies 8 km southeast of Oradei. People come here, to splash in the pools and soak up the sun, which is accompanied by a lot of noise in the summer. In addition to the large outdoor swimming pool with warm water, there are several smaller ones, covered with the extremely rare white lily Nemphea lotus thermalis.
The most popular pools are Strand Apollo and Strand Felix, next to the Stasia Baile Felix bus stop. Both are open daily. 7.00-18.00 (gum. XI-IV); admission costs 1 $. A costume and a towel are a must.
Accommodation
The nearest campsite is located 3 km from the village, w Baile 1 May (tooth. above in the subsection Oradea, Accommodation).
Hotel Thermal (tel.059/261215), near the train station, accepts hotel vouchers. It has its own swimming pool with hot water (in the summer under the open sky, indoor in winter).
Hotel Nufarul (tel.059/343994), 50 m za Strand Apollo, has a nice restaurant; accepts Visa cards.
At the Poenita Hotel (tel.059/251172), on the eastern side of the village, there is a heated swimming pool; Visa and American Express cards are accepted.
In all the mentioned hotels, double rooms with a bathroom cost money 22-26 $.
Journey
There are three local trains a day from Oradea to Baile Felix (11 km, 20 min), but it's easier to get here by tram #4 (red number) from Piata Unirii to the east or by tram #4 (black number) from Oradea train station to the south, do końca linii w Cartierul Nufarul, from where the bus goes directly to the spa #14 (0,30 $, payable to the driver). It passes all major hotels, previously stopping at the Statia Baile Felix (next to the great fountain). On the way back, it's best to take Statia Strand Apollo, 50 m south of Statia Baile Felix.
