Private accommodation
ONT offices are directed to accommodation in private homes, where the accommodation costs 15 $ from person, with breakfast included in the price. The rooms vary considerably in standard; if the proposed conditions do not meet the expectations, you can ask for something else.
Peter Express (tel.6502567), Ana Ipatescu Boulevard 17, near Piata Romana, acts as an intermediary in renting accommodation in the vicinity of the office, after 15 $ for single and 22 $ for a double room.
Sometimes landlords look for customers at the station or on the street. It is always better to ask for the location of the accommodation unit on the map in advance.
Hotels
There are a lot of run-down second-class hotels in Bucharest, and even in the middle of summer, finding a place is not much of a problem. Prices hover around 20-30 $ for a single and double room with shared bathroom. From November to mid-December, the rates are minimally lowered. It's best not to rent rooms facing busy streets. It's worth making sure, whether the price also includes breakfast. Cheap hotels focus on two points: around the train station and in the city center.
Around the North Railway Station – In distance 30 m to the right of the exit of the station is noisy, but surprisingly neat Bucegi hotel (tel.6375225), Witing street 2. A single with a bathroom costs money 18 $, two 24$, and three 29 $. Standing opposite, Hotel Cerna comparable to standard (tel.6374087) erases accordingly 14 i 23 $ for single rooms- and double rooms without bathroom, and 20 i 30 $ with bathroom.
The most pleasant hotel in the area is the Dunarea hotel (tel.2229820), the path of Grivita 140, if you ignore the noise of rumbling trams. The prices are 12 i 18 $ for a room without a bathroom, a 17 i 25 $ with bathroom. The Grivita Hotel is situated on the same street (tel.6502327), the path of Grivita 130, where you pay for a single / double room without a bathroom 13/18 $. The hotel bar is smoky and uninviting; women traveling alone should rather look for another accommodation. Hotel Marna is on the left hand side street (tel.6506820), Buzesti street 3. The prices are exorbitant – 21 i 40 $ for a room with a bathroom.
In the center – At the fifth of Mihail Kogalniceanu 2, 100 m west of Cismigiu Park, right next to a busy roundabout, stoi hotel Venetia (tel.6159149). Car-pafi, the nicest hotel in the area, is a short distance away (tel.6157690), on the strada Matei Millo 16. Rooms with bathroom, equipped with televisions and telephones, costs 25 i 40 $. The Palas hotel is definitely less attractive (tel.6153710), Constantin Mille street 18, where for rooms without a bathroom it is requested 21 i 28 $, and with a bathroom 35 i 60 $. Hotel Muntenia (tel.6146010), Academy Street 21, it is not a quiet one, to be sure, but it's in a great location – next to the university. A single with a bathroom costs money 22 $, two with or without bathroom 30 the 35 $.
Hotel Univeisal, Gabroveni street 12, turned into a dormitory; the place is charged here 11 $ from person. There are individual and seven-bed rooms. As a hotel it has been serving since 15 July to 30 September, but staff will always try to find a free bed.
Expensive hotels 14-storey two-star hotel Paic (tel.180905), Poligrafiei boulevard 3, not far from the fifth Presea Libere, on the way to the airport, he is the only one to accept hotel passes.
