Bucharest – Gastronomy
There are two market squares in Bucharest, where you can buy inexpensive fresh fruits and vegetables. One is located near the fifth unirii, second at the fifth of Amzei. Panipat bakery chain sells delicious bread and cakes; Panipat shops can be found at the North Station, at bulevardul Bratianu near the fifth uniria and on the strada C.A. Rosetti, the eastern block of General Magheru Boulevard. Wokół Piata Revolutii – One of the best places in Bucharest is Bistro Ateneu (tel.6134900), Episcopiei street, in front of the Romanian Athenaeum. Delicious food and a nice atmosphere attract crowds. To avoid a crush at the bar, it's best to book in advance. The kitchen is open until 1.00.
Little Italy, George Enescu street 3, Italian family company, has great pastas and unique pizzas.
China House, Nicolae Balcescu Boulevard 25, it is an atmospheric interior and more than the average Chinese cuisine. The main course costs approx. 5 $. Visa cards are accepted.
Moldavian specialties can be enjoyed in the Moldova restaurant, at the Icoanei strade 2, departing from the road of Jean Louis Calderon, na wschód od bulevardul Nicolae Balcescu.
At Piata Romana – In summer it is nice to sit in front of the Berarie Turist, on the eastern side of the square, where small meals and large mugs of draft beer are served.
Elegancka Nan Jing, w hotel Minerva przy bulevadul Ana Ipatescu, recommends the way, but excellent Chinese food. You are not allowed to smoke in the dining room (a notable exception). You can pay with Visa.
West of downtown, Two places are worth visiting, even though they are remote from the center. Bule-vardul Eroilor prowadzi od stacji metra Eroilor do Bradet, street Carol Da-vila 60. The restaurant specializes in Lebanese cuisine, whose dishes are worth the expense 6-8 $.
Another expensive place is Sahib, path 13 September 127-131, offering the best Indian delicacies in the capital. It is at the point, where leading south of the People's House calea 13 September on the Panduri road.
Cafes
W Victoria Confectionery, the way of Victory 18, delicious confectionery will satisfy even the most demanding gourmets. The best coffee and biscuits in Bucharest are served at Cofetaria Ambasador, right next to the hotel of the same name, at the bulevardul Magheru 10.
